As you would imagine, his arrival upset our groove.
Luckily, Daddy took off work so we could finish up the last two or three weeks while Mom recovered and we all adjusted to life with a new baby. Anything that wasn't close to being finished was put on hold for the summer and we wrapped up what was close to being done.
Preschool
Since Ellie and Hyrum don't really have a curriculum, they just enjoyed having Daddy around and loving on the new baby.

Reading
Emmett is basically through with most readers from the Sonlight readers. He still reads to me, though, and still needs a bit of helping sounding out some multi-syllabic words. He is definitely becoming a more and more confident reader, though!
Even though he can read stories, his favorite books are still non-fiction books. He was happy to get his own library card (after getting the required number of points on Book Adventure) and now happily checks out 3-5 books on various bugs, spiders, and snakes each week.
Spelling
This was put on hold. He's continued to review, but will not move forward until the start of next year.
Math
Because Emmett had just completed the section on adding past ten, it was a perfect spot to pause. I'm betting letting that "ferment" will be helpful at the start of next year.
First Grade
LanguageGrammar
Abby wants to continue grammar through the summer, but it's just not happening. She still works on the things she has memorized through the audio companion.
Writing
We completed WWE1! Yeah!
Reading
Of course, Abby will still read throughout the summer. :)
Spelling
Abby is smack in the middle of AAS level 3 so she'll pause where she is and continue to review until we start up again.
Math
Abby completed Singapore Year 2! So now it's review and fun math for the summer. :)
All Together
History
This took us into our "summer break" to complete, but I wanted to complete it! Luckily, we got in there and got it done. The kids really learned and were exposed to a lot this year with Story of the World!
Science
Even though I didn't blog it, we completed the plant unit in RSO: Life. I was very pleased with this course and we'll be using RSO again for Earth and Space science. For the summer, we've been fooling around with Sassafras Science. Unfortunately, it doesn't have the appeal for Emmett that RSO did.
